Newcastle United moved level on points with fourth place Chelsea with a 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
Dominic Solanke handed Spurs the lead just three minutes in but the Magpies responded in a matter of minutes through Anthony Gordon. Alexander Isak then completed the turnaround with his 12th Premier League goal of the season.
The Magpies extended their winning streak to six matches in all competition ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg away to Arsenal on Tuesday night.
Eddie Howe made two changes from the 2-0 win away to Manchester United on Monday night. Sven Botman made his first start since undergoing ACL surgery in March to replace the suspended Fabian Schar. Tino Livramento was preferred ahead of Kieran Trippier.
Spurs were without 10 first-team players, including both first and second choice goalkeepers Vicario and Fraser Forster. Brandon Austin made his debut in between the sticks while James Maddison and Son Heung-min started on the bench. The likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Rodrigo Bentancur were absent altogether.
Despite all that, the home side broke the deadlock just four minutes in when Dominic Solanke peeled off Botman to head home Pedro Porro’s cross. Newcastle, however, quickly levelled when Anthony Gordon found the bottom corner.
Spurs protested the goal after the ball hit Joelinton’s arm in the build-up but VAR checked it and stood by the on-field decision.
Newcastle squandered other chances before taking the lead in the 38th minute. Jacob Murphy’s cross hit off Ragu Dragusin before Isak got the final touch. The Swede scored for the seventh league game in a row, equalling Alan Shearer’s record.

2. Martin Dubravka - 8
Conceded his first Premier League goal of the campaign but wasn’t to blame. Excellent when distributing the ball once again. The busiest he’s been all season. Claimed several crosses. | Getty Images

3. Tino Livramento - 8
Put in a solid defensive shift. Used his pace to get Newcastle out of some dangerous situations and put them on the attack. Arguably his best display of the campaign. | AFP via Getty Images

4. Sven Botman - 7.5
Made a shaky start to the game, which can maybe be forgiven on his appearance in 10 months. Denied a certain Solanke goal with a massive block and put in some good challenges. Aerially good. | Getty Images
