Newcastle United moved level on points with fifth place Manchester City with a 1-0 win against West Ham United.
In a game that was low on quality, the Magpies managed to come away with three points via Bruno Guimaraes’ strike midway through the second-half.
Eddie Howe made three changes from the FA Cup fifth round defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Nick Pope replaced Martin Dubravka in goal, while captain Bruno Guimaraes returned to the midfield in place of Lewis Miley. Jacob Murphy came in for the suspended Anthony Gordon.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Sean Neave was named on a bench featuring the likes of Callum Wilson, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff.
Harvey Barnes, playing on the left in Gordon’s absence, twice came close to opening the scoring in the first-half before setting up Guimaraes’ in the 63rd minute.
Barnes delivered an in-swinging cross and the Brazilian stayed onside to slid the ball home.
Our writer Jordan Cronin was at the London Stadium - and here are his Newcastle United player ratings:

5. Dan Burn - 5

6. Tino Livramento - 5
A missed clearance inside the opening few minutes almost saw Tomas Soucek open the scoring. Got forward but slowed every attack down on his weaker side. | Getty Images

7. Sandro Tonali - 6
Showed good energy in the middle of the park but often the final pass or shot. | AFP via Getty Images

8. Bruno Guimaraes - 7.5
His performances have been scrutinised in recent weeks but the Brazilian was the pick of the bunch at the London Stadium. NUFC needed a leader and he stepped up. | Getty Images
