Newcastle United players ratings: How each Magpies star performed in controversial Liverpool defeat
Martin Dubravka - 7
Commanding performance from Dubravka, pulling out saves and claiming a number of crosses to relieve the pressure on his defensive teammates.
Javier Manquillo - 7
Manquillo was at fault for two goals at Leicester but the Spaniard could barely be faulted at Anfield against his former club.
Fabian Schar - 6

Hide AdCollided with Hayden, where Liverpool controversially levelled in the first-half. Would have conceded a penalty had Mo Salah not fired home the loose ball from his tackle on Sadio Mane.
Jamaal Lascelles - 7
Bounced back from his mistake at Leicester City. Absorbed plenty of Liverpool pressure to put in a more captain-liked performance.
Jamal Lewis - 6
Started brightly at Anfield but was forced to withdraw with a hamstring injury on 12 minutes.
Isaac Hayden - 7
Handed his first start under Howe to offer defensive steel in the midfield. Was the player down with a head injury when Liverpool equalised.
Jonjo Shelvey - 5

Hide AdA performance to sum up the brilliance and not-so brilliance of Shelvey. Scored a seventh-minute screamer before gifting the ball to Mane in the build-up to Salah’s goal.
Ryan Fraser - 8
Was a real threat down the left-hand side. Provided the cross which led to Shelvey’s opener and was controversially denied a penalty under a challenge from Alexander-Arnold.
Jacob Murphy - 8
Put in a tireless display down the right-hand side. Supported Manquillo and offered a lot going forward. Aimed a left-footed shot narrowly wide in the second-half.
Allan Saint-Maximin - 7
Caused the Liverpool defence problems with his electric pace, which raises the question - is he best suited to play down the middle?
Joelinton - 7

SUB: Matt Ritchie (on for Lewis, 12) - 7
Steady display after replacing Lewis early on.
Callum Wilson (on for Saint-Maximin - 77) - 6
Was rested for the trip to Anfield. Played the final 10 minutes but not enough time to make an impact.
