Newcastle United are reportedly set to revisit their interest in two former transfer targets as they look to strengthen in two key positions during the summer transfer window.
The Magpies have been long-term admirers of Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby and have watched the former Paris Saint-Germain winger on several occasions over the last year. The France international has continued his fine form throughout what has been a challenging season for his season, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.

The 23-year-old still has just over two years remaining on his current contract but is attracting major interest from some of European football’s biggest clubs. Former club PSG and Premier League title challengers Arsenal are both said to be considering a move for Diaby this summer - but 90Min have claimed Newcastle are ‘confident’ they can land the £61m-rated winger over the summer months.
Speaking at the end of the summer transfer window, Bayer director of sport Simon Rolfes gave an indication of how his club view the future of two of their prize assets, saying: "For sure, we want to keep Moussa for as long as possible, I know a lot of scouts have been sitting on our tribune during our matches because we have a lot of interesting, exciting young players with high potential.

"So, it's the same as (Patrik) Schick. We did not receive any offers for him but we are not even looking for that at the moment. We wanted to keep him and play Champions League football with him this season."
Intriguingly, the 90 Min report also suggests United will revisit the tentative interest they showed in Bayer left-back Mitchel Bakker, who was said to be under consideration by the Magpies hierachy during the final week of the January 2022 transfer window and was also believed to have been discussed last summer.

The former Netherlands Under-21 is said to be viewed as a possible alternative to United’s first-choice left-back target, Arsenal star Kieran Tierney.
