Newcastle United predicted starting XI v Luton Town as fresh injury concern forces rotation

Newcastle United starting XI against Luton Town is set to be impacted by injuries.

Newcastle United welcome Luton Town to St James' Park hoping to build on Tuesday night's 3-1 victory at Champions League chasing Aston Villa.

Prior to the match, Eddie Howe's side had lost their last four Premier League fixtures and hadn't won on the road since beating Sheffield United 8-0 at Bramall Lane in September.

But a first-half brace from Fabian Schar and own goal by Alex Moreno has seen the feel-good factor return around the football club this week. To maintain that and build some momentum, it is imperative United get the better of the Hatters this afternoon.

Of course, Newcastle's campaign has been dominated by injuries and that is no different heading into this game. Alexander Isak withdrew with a groin complaint at Villa Park and was replaced by Miguel Almiron in the 43rd minute.

With Callum Wilson also unavailable, Anthony Gordon moved into the central striker position and could continue there this afternoon. Isak and Wilson are among the players being assessed, as are Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock and Jamaal Lascelles.

And keeping up with the theme of injuries... Newcastle expect head coach Howe to be in the dugout for the visit of Luton after he sat out of his pre-match press conference on Friday due to illness.
