Newcastle United predicted starting XI v Tottenham: Formation switch & two changes in fresh injury blow

Newcastle United are predicted to make two changes to their starting XI to take on Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle United are looking to bounce back from Thursday night's defeat to Everton when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in North London this afternoon (kick-off 4:30pm).

After back-to-back wins against Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League, and an impressive point away to Paris Saint-Germain last week, the Magpies' injury situation once again came under the microscope at Goodison Park.

With the exception of goalkeeper Nick Pope, who is out for the next four months after undergoing shoulder surgery, Howe named the same starting XI for the fourth match on the spin.

And in the closing stage, United looked mentally, and perhaps even physically, fatigued as two mistakes from Kieran Trippier saw the Toffees surge to a 3-0 victory.

With just two days' rest, plus the crunch Champions League clash at home to AC Milan to consider on Wednesday, Howe may feel he must make changes against Spurs, despite his lack of options.

So with that could see a formation switch, not only because of the limited amount of players available, but to try and dhqng3 the club's fortunes on the road this campaign.

In the seven Premier League away games so far, Newcastle have won just once - an 8-0 win at Sheffield United in September.
