Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is reportedly set to join Premier League newcomers Luton Town.

Football Insider have reported the Dutch stopper is close to completing a deal to become the Hatters tenth summer signing following their promotion to the Premier League. The 35-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract at Championship club Norwich City and has been replaced as Canaries number one by Scotland international Angus Gunn.

Krul would bring a wealth of Premier League experience after making 222 top flight appearances during his career, with 157 of them coming during his 12-year stay at St James Park. Krul was a key part of the Magpies side that secured a surprise fifth placed finish during the 2011/12 season and also appeared for the club in the UEFA Cup and Europa League, as well as representing the Netherlands at the World Cup Finals in 2014.

Should Krul officially complete his move to Luton, he would provide competition for another summer addition, Thomas Kaminski, who made his first appearance for the club in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Newcastle are not due to meet the Hatters until they travel to Kenilworth Road on Saturday, December 23.

The 22-year-old left River Plate to join league rivals Estudiantes last summer and has gone on to score 13 goals and provided five assists in 64 appearances in all competitions for the La Plata based club. TNT journalist Nicolas Latini has claimed the Magpies have an ‘offer ready’ to land Rollheiser before the end of the summer transfer window and are ready to make a bid of around £8.6million to get the deal done.

However, former Manchester United and Chelsea star Juan Sebastian Veron, the president of Estudiantes, has claimed there will be ‘no problem’ getting the deal completed if his club receive an offer of around £13million. Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest in Rollheiser.
