Eddie Howe has eased any potential fears surrounding Bruno Guimaraes’ fitness ahead of next weekend’s Premier League clash at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Brazilian twisted his ankle in last Sunday’s 2-0 Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester United but returned in time for the visit to Manchester City this afternoon.

But the 25-year-old carried on and played a full 90 minutes after goals from Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva inflicted defeat on Eddie Howe’s side.
“There were a couple of knocks, but I don’t know 100 per cent,” Howe said after the game. “I thought Bruno was maybe showing the effects of that knock he had on the ankle last week. But I don’t think there’s any long-term problem there.”
The Magpies have lost three games in a row (Liverpool, Man United & Man City) for the first time this campaign and as a result, have slipped out of the Premier League top four in recent weeks.

“But on the general performance, that’s a harsh reflection on those games. Today was a similar pattern because I thought we were competitive and had our chances but we didn’t take them and Manchester City took theirs.”
