Newcastle United star Callum Wilson trained separately on Monday ahead of the Champions League clash against AC Milan tomorrow night (kick-off 5:45pm).

Eddie Howe’s side trained at their Benton base this morning before flying to Italy. The Magpies’ head coach will hold a press conference this evening at the San Siro 7pm local time.

And Howe is likely to be quizzed on Wilson after Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie revealed the England international “trained separately from the main group” and did some “light running” instead.

Despite some concerns raised on social media, Wilson is expected to be involved. Having previously suffered two ACL injuries under Howe at Bournemouth, the 31-year-old’s workload is carefully managed.

He started and scored in Saturday evening’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth, a result that ended a run of three straight defeats, but Howe is tipped to recall Alexander Isak, who led the line in the opening four Premier League matches.
