Magpies ‘really hot’ on £50m star’s trail

Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby is attracting a lot of attention from the Premier League right now and Newcastle are up there with Arsenal as top contenders to sign him this summer, according to Christian Falk.

“They [Newcastle and Arsenal] for me at the moment, are the two clubs, which are really, really hot,” he told GiveMeSport. “Aston Villa would be so interesting for him at the moment, and it’s a chance to show the Premier League what he can do. Diaby’s club have now signed Jonas Hoffman, a German national team player, and he’s playing in his position. So you see that now they know that Diaby will leave, they want to sell him to get money from this transfer.”

The winger, who contributed 14 goals and 11 assists for Leverkusen last season, has been valued at £50 million, which would be a club record fee if a move goes ahead this summer.

Talks over signing Southampton ace fall through

Newcastle’s pursuit of Tino Livramento has ended as the club have been unable to reach an agreement for his services. According to Football Insider, the Magpies have decided Southampton’s asking price for the 20-year-old defender is ‘too steep.’

Howe and co had highlighted the rising star as a top option this summer as they look to strengthen in the right-back position. Livramento only joined the Saints last summer in a £5 million move, but he is being linked to a move away following their relegation to the Championship last season.
