Newcastle United have altered parts of St James’ Park over the summer.

Newcastle United have released footage showing off its latest St James’ Park upgrade. A new hospitality suite called ‘The Rooftops’ — situated in the Gallowgate South West Corner — made its grand opening for Saturday evening’s 5-1 win against Aston Villa.

Promoting the opening on social media, Newcastle posted a video with the caption wording “Welcome to the Rooftops, Newcastle United’s new premium hospitality suite! “With spectacular views over the city and premium Gallowgate corner seating, the Rooftops is bringing sophistication and elegance to the match day experience at St. James’”

For a premium price of £650 + VAT per-person per-match, supporters will enjoy an all-inclusive bar and a variety of small plates serving seasonal food pre-match and post-match. The suite also hosts a live DJ and a pre and post-match analysis with a Newcastle United legend.

Aew corporate seating has also been added in the Leazes Stand after the Leazes Sports Bar underwent a revamp over the summer. Existing season ticket holders in that section have been relocated.

Meanwhile, the number of safe standing seats inside St James’ Park have increased. In the upper tier of the Leazes End, i.e. the away section, roughly 3,000 capacity now hosts the required railing. The same goes for the South East Corner - otherwise known as the ‘Strawberry Corner’ - albeit on a lesser scale of approximately 1,800.

Newcastle announced in March some safe standing was being installed as part of an initial trial period ahead of the 2023-24 Premier League and Champions League campaign.
