Newcastle United respond to reports that agreement is in place to sign Watford’s Joao Pedro

Newcastle United have not agreed a deal to sign Watford’s Joao Pedro, contrary to some reports.

Eddie Howe has denied rumours that Newcastle United have agreed a fee with Watford to sign Joao Pedro.

It was reported by some outlets on Monday evening that the Magpies had struck an agreement with the Hornets to sign the Brazilian.

“I think that’s not entirely accurate but I’m not dealing with these things minute by minute, day to day,” Howe told reporters ahead of the Carabao Cup clash at Tranmere.

“I’m sort of in the background hearing what’s happening but I don’t think that’s correct.”

NewcastleWorld understands talks are ongoing between the two clubs with just over a week of the summer transfer window remaining.

Asked if he hopes to be busy before the deadline on September 1, Howe said: “Yes, we hope to be.”
