Bazoumana Toure, Anthony Elanga, Tino Livramento: Newcastle United injury list & return dates.
Newcastle United welcomed five players back from injury for the visit to Coventry City on Monday night, but they were unable to help prevent a 4-1 defeat.
Nico Gonzalez started the game after missing the Hull City win through concussion protocols, while Amar Dedic, Joelinton, Will Osula and Dan Burn were named on the bench before being introduced in the second half. There are, however, still several players to return.
Matthias Jaissle’s side are hoping to bounce against Aston Villa at St James’ Park on Saturday night and ahead of the game, we take a look at Newcastle’s injury list and potential return dates:

Tino Livramento
Livramento was set to make his first start for Newcastle since April against Hull City last month but picked up a new injury on the eve of the game.
What’s Matthias Jaissle said?
“With Tino, we need to be cautious and pay attention so that we don’t rush him, as you know about his injury situation and history in the past. But we are optimistic that also in the next weeks we will bring him back, but slowly and step by step.”
Expected return date
Unknown.
Bazoumana Toure
Toure came on as a substitute against Coventry before needing to be substituted himself after he went down clutching his lower leg in the 90th minute.
What’s Matthias Jaissle said?
“Bazou seems to be much better. We're happy for that. It didn't look that well straight away during the match, so he was progressing now good in the last few days. Hopefully he's able to join the group on Saturday.”
Expected return date
Aston Villa (H) 17/10.
Anthony Elanga
Elanga suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the 4-1 defeat at Leeds United last month and hasn’t featured since.
It was feared initially that the 24-year-old would be sidelined long-term, but he’s expected back ‘sooner rather than later’.
What’s Matthias Jaissle said?
“Unfortunately, he’s [been] out for many, many weeks and now it's the process to bring him back slowly but surely in a smart way, so we are not too much in a hurry.
“Hopefully next week he's about to train again with the group, at least partially, and then we need to reintegrate him again step by step. But we miss him a lot. I can't wait to have him back in the squad.”
Expected return date
Everton (A) 29/10.
Ewen Jaouen
Jaouen hasn’t been named in a matchday squad since August. The Frenchman suffered a knee injury but recovered in time to link up with France under-21s, where he then picked up a hamstring injury.
What’s Matthias Jaissle said?
“Ewen was a difficult one with the hamstring, he will be out for a couple of months but the rest should be okay.”
Expected return date
Nottingham Forest (H) 30/12.
Jacob Ramsey
Ramsey was an unused substitute in the 4-1 defeat at Leeds United after injuring his thigh in the pre-match warm-up. He hasn’t been named in the matchday squad for the last two matches.
What’s Matthias Jaissle said?
“He's making progress now much more, a little bit like Anthony [Elanga], hopefully also next week he can join in partially in the training and then we build it from there.”
Expected return date
Everton (A) 29/10.
