Newcastle United 'rival' four Premier League clubs to sign 'incredible' midfielder for free this summer

Newcastle United are assessing their options ahead of what could be a busy spell on the transfer market this summer.

Newcastle United have a big summer transfer window ahead as they look to strengthen their ranks but also tread a careful line as they ensure they keep within the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

Recent reports have suggested that the Magpies could be forced to cash in on one or more key players this summer, including Bruno Guimarães. The Brazilian is a prime asset for the club, particularly with the £100 million release clause attached to his recent new contract agreement.

A recent report has linked Newcastle with a budget-friendly option when it comes to bringing in new signings at the end of the season. According to HITC, Eddie Howe’s sign are among those interested in signing Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, who is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave the King Power Stadium this summer, whether the Foxes return to the Premier League or not.

The midfielder is now into the final months of his contract and will be available on the market as a free agent ahead of the 2024/25 season. However, due to his current situation, he is naturally a hot topic among plenty of other clubs as well.

Newcastle face competition from Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Wolves as Ndidi approaches the end of his contract with Leicester. The Nigerian international has played for just two clubs during his senior career and has been with the Foxes since signing from Genk in 2017.

Ndidi has been a key player for the Foxes over the years and especially earned praise from former manager Brendan Rodgers, who described him as ‘incredible’ back in 2019 and said that he is a player any team needs when playing ‘a pressing game’.

Despite being a defensive midfielder, the 27-year-old has contributed four goals and six assists across all competitions so far this season. He has been a key player in Leicester’s push to not just earn promotion but to lift the Championship trophy.

Ndidi is currently valued at €16 million (£14m) by Transfermarkt but Newcastle will be able to sign him for free if they beat their Premier League rivals to his signature this summer. It will be an especially sweet signing knowing a top talent has cost them nothing and could replace Guimarães if the club do decide to cash in this summer.
