Newcastle United sent two-word transfer message after £60m star's visit to St James' Park

The 25-year-old is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs - including Newcastle United, Liverpool and Arsenal - after his goal in the Bees’ 3-1 defeat to the Gunners on New Year’s Day took his tally to 11 for the season.

The right hand of side of attack is the only position Newcastle haven’t strengthened since the PIF-led takeover in October 2021. Despite Jacob Murphy’s recent good form of three goals and four assists in five games, the need to do so remains.

Mbeumo has been identified as a player who would significantly improve the Magpies’ starting XI but with a reported £60million price tag, Frank has sent a “good luck” message to any team hoping to sign him this month.

“I would say ‘good luck’! We love Bryan, he loves playing here,” said the Bees manager. “He’s had a fantastic season so nothing will happen.”

Last month, Mbeumo was part of the Brentford squad that lost 3-1 at St James’ Park in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

And when signing autographs after the game, one Newcastle took the opportunity to ask the Cameroonian if he was signing for the Magpies ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

The question did seem to bring out a smirk on Mbeumo’s face but not a word came out of his mouth.

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has regularly warned supporters it will likely be a quiet January in terms of incomings amid pressures to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

There is, however, a far greater chance of players leaving. Miguel Almiron is wanted by a host of clubs having been linked with the likes of Olympiakos, Charlotte FC, Palmeiras, Santos and Sao Paulo in recent days.

Meanwhile, Martin Dubravka also has an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab, although his departure is dependent on when Nick Pope will return from his knee injury. The Slovakian has played the last five matches in Pope’s absence, winning all of them and keeping four clean sheets.
