The England midfielder has been in fine form this season and could claim his place as the Premier League’s all-time record free-kick goalscorer over the coming months.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old with both Spurs and Newcastle seen as credible destinations should his leave the Saints this summer.

However, the Daily Mail have reported Southampton are “determined” to keep hold of their prized asset, who is under contract until the summer of 2024.

Tutto Mercato have suggested Magpies boss Eddie Howe is keen to add a number of “shrewd” signings to his ranks as he looks to build on the momentum gained throughout the second half of the Premier League season.

Former Southampton full-back Cedric has reportedly been shortlisted as one such target - but the Magpies could face competition from Portuguese giants Porto.

PSG starlet eyed by Newcastle

Newcastle are showing an interest in signing forward Arnaud Kalimuendo from Paris Saint Germain.

The 20-year-old has been on loan at Lens this season and has scored 11 goals in 34 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
