Gordon became the Magpies’ second January signing behind Garang Kuol after completing his £45million move from Everton on Sunday.

And on deadline day this morning, the number of incomings swiftly increased to three with Ashby arriving from West Ham United.

Both players have spoken of their excitement about playing in front of Magpies’ supporters following their respective moves.

And while they’ll have to wait until Saturday at the earliest to experience that - when West Ham are the visitors - they’ll get a little taste for it this evening.

Indeed, Eddie Howe is calling for a big atmosphere as United look to reach their first domestic final in 24 years.

The 45-year-old said: “Hopefully we can get the crowd into the game early, thrive off their positivity and it can elevate us in terms of our performance levels.

“You never know how football match is going to go - it can be unpredictable, and there can be twists and turns in cup ties.

“From our side, we need to be resilient and be able to take whichever way the game turns and be strong in that moment.

“I’m sure the crowd will, but support us in that moment, because this is going to be a really difficult game for us.”

Wor Flags has continued its initiative of ‘Bring your Scarf’ following the success it brought in the 2-0 win over Leicester City in the previous round.
