Anthony Gordon is with Newcastle United's squad for this evening's Premier League clash away to Nottingham Forest (kick-off 5:30pm).
The former Everton winger was a major doubt for the trip to the City Ground after leaving St James' Park last weekend on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
Gordon was withdrawn at half-time in the 4-4 draw against Luton Town with an ankle injury and hadn't trained in the build-up in the game.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said: “He hasn’t trained this week. We don’t think the injury is serious. We’re hopeful he’ll be back sooner rather than later."
When asked when Gordon would return to training, Howe replied: "Not at this moment, slightly unclear."
Just over 24 hours later and Gordon is back with the squad and is set to start. Club captain Jamaal Lascelles also returns from a calf issue after missing the last three matches.

Dubravka has improved in recent weeks but still conceded 26 goals in 13 matches, compared to the 19 goals in 20 games with Nick Pope in between the sticks.

4. CB: Fabian Schar
Schar has stayed injury free this campaign while centre-back partners Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles haven't.
