Benfica boss Roger Schmidt has conceded that in-form forward Goncalo Ramos could be on the move this summer.

Newcastle United are among the Premier League clubs interested in the 21-year-old, as are Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but are yet to table an official bid.

Ramos scored against the Magpies in pre-season during Eddie Howe’s side’s 3-2 Eusebio Cup defeat and has carried that goalscoring form into the competitive campaign.

The Portuguese under-21s international has netted five goals in the same number of appearances, including a hat-trick against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League (UCL).

It’s no wonder Ramos is attracting interest and Benfica head coach Schmidt, having previously said very little, has not ruled out a summer sale.

Schmidt said: “When we see him play, we feel that he loves playing for Benfica, as you can see. Football is a business and therefore we cannot be sure what will happen.

There have been suggestions in Portugal that The Eagles will wait until after their UCL qualifier with Dynamo Kiev before sanctioning a possible sale.

Schmidt’s side take a 2-0 lead into the second-leg at the Estadio da Luz after goals from Ramos and Gilberto Moraes Junior.

Recent reports have claimed Southampton have held talks over a club record £25million move. Wolves, as everyone knows, have close ties to agents in Portugal.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are attempting to prise Brazilian youngster Joao Pedro away from Championship side Watford.
