As per Premier League rules, any player who picks up 10 cautions up to and including their club's 32nd fixture is forced to serve a two-match ban. To avoid that, Guimaraes would need to stay out of the referee's book in the next 11 matches, a scenario that is extremely unlikely.
“The last thing we need, to be honest at this moment in time is to lose anyone through suspension, but well have to cross that bridge when it comes," said United boss Eddie Howe after the late loss to Man City.

Guimaraes, along with Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier has already served a one-match ban this season after accumulating five yellow cards in Newcastle's first 19 Premier League matches. Gordon too is at risk having picked up seven bookings.
Elsewhere in United's squad Trippier, Sean Longstaff and Joelinton have been booked five times. Jamaal Lascelles has four while Fabian Schar in on three cautions.
