The Magpies suffered from a Champions League hangover in the first half as they trailed to Tomas Soucek’s eighth-minute opener. But after a talking-to from Eddie Howe at the break, United improved and quickly turned the match on its head via Alexander Isak’s brace.
Victory was within Newcastle’s grasp but substitute Mohammed Kudus had other ideas as his strike in the 89th minute earned a draw for the Hammers. Still, Howe’s side accepted the draw which extended their unbeaten run to seven matches.
