The England international has been the subject of loan interest from European big guns AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, however the Magpies knocked back both approaches over the weekend.

Wilson is one of a three players to attract interest from elsewhere in recent days with Kieran Trippier wanted by Bayern Munich while Miguel Almiron is on Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab's radar.

Speaking on the BBC Footballer's Football Podcast, Wilson was asked by host Ricky Haywood-Williams if he could shed any light on the rumours to which he replied: "No." Then asked if he knew anything about Munich's interest in teammate Trippier, Wilson again said: "No."

Before a brief silence, Wilson continued: "It's January, the window's open and there's always speculation around players, not just myself but with everybody else in the squad. I haven't got much more to say than that."

While Wilson stayed tight lipped, it is NewcastleWorld's understanding that neither Wilson or Trippier are for sale in January.

United have rejected bids from Bayern for Trippier, the latest worth in the region of £13million. Reports in Germany on Wednesday claim the Bundesliga club have given up on signing the former Tottenham Hotspur right-back.

Meanwhile, Wilson is currently sidelined with a calf issue but has been working hard during the Premier League winter break. As stated by United boss Eddie Howe, the hope is the 31-year-old can return for the trip to Aston Villa next Tuesday.
