Joe Willock has posted an update to social media after being sidelined for a month due to injury.

The midfielder finally returned to the Newcastle United squad in October after being out for five months. In May, Willock sustained a hamstring injury against Brighton before suffering a setback and an Achilles injury.

And after making his big return in the 23/24 season the 24-year-old found himself sidelined again due to his Achilles.

It's expected the former Arsenal footballer will return to the squad in January and now Willock has provided fans with an injury update on social media.

Sharing a video of him working up a sweat on an exercise bike, he wrote: 'Trusting the process,' alongside the prayer emoji and black heart.

The recurrence of his injury meant Willock missed Newcastle's 4-1 win over Chelsea and the player hasn't featured since.

At the time, Eddie Howe said: “It looks like a recurrence of an Achilles injury that he had a few weeks ago. It’s a massive blow for us. We don’t know how long he’s going to be out, we’re going to have to seek specialist advice, but it’s a huge blow for us.

"The [injury] was very hard for everybody to take yesterday, especially as it's another recurrence, and I think that's the frustrating thing. We don't know the extent of it at this moment in time, we'll do everything we can to get him back on the pitch as quickly as possible."
