April was something of a mixed month for Newcastle United after they suffered two defeats and claimed four wins during the penultimare month of the Premier League season.
Eddie Howe’s side got their April schedule of to something of a nightmare start after they were punished for a lacklustre second-half display in their 5-1 defeat at top-four contenders Spurs.
To their credit, the Magpies showed their resiliance to embark on a four-match winning run that ultimately secured their top flight status.
A Chris Wood goal was enough to see off Wolves on a tense Friday night at St James Park before a late header from Bruno Guimaraes provided a dramatic end to a 2-1 home win against Leicester City.
Miguel Almiron’s stunning run and finish was the difference between Howe’s side and Crystal Palace before Joelinton and Bruno found the net to push Norwich City to the brink of relegation with a 3-0 win at Carrow Road.
The month may well have come to a subdued end as title-chasing Liverpool took the honours at St James Park on Saturday - but that has not prevented one Newcastle star finding himself in some impressive company in April’s WhoScored team of the month.
