Newcastle United starting XI v Everton after fresh injury blow & Anthony Gordon decision

Newcastle United predicted starting XI v Everton: Anthony Gordon returns to his former club.

Eddie Howe will be forced into at least one change to his Newcastle United starting XI for this evening's Premier League clash at Everton (kick-off 7:30pm).

With injuries ripping through the Magpies' squad, Howe has named the same starting line-up for the last three games in wins over Chelsea and Manchester United, and the controversial 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Nick Pope is United's latest casualty after the goalkeeper dislocated his shoulder on Saturday evening. He will undergo surgery, ruling him out for the next four months.

“He’s had a couple of appointments visiting specialists," Howe said on Wednesday. "I’m awaiting final news on what's going to happen but we anticipate he’ll be operated on. There's no doubt he needs an operation so he'll be out for a period of time.

"The operation hasn’t happened yet but we're thinking roughly around four months. A big blow for us but one we expected after the game. As soon as we saw the dislocation, we were fearing the worst."

In Pope's absence, Martin Dubravka is expected to be given an opportunity, though will face competition from Loris Karius.

Further up the pitch, Anthony Gordon is expected to receive a hostile atmosphere as he returns to Goodison Park for the second time since joining Newcastle for £45million in January.

The winger was a substitute on his last visit but is one of the Magpies' key performers this time around with six goals and three assists
