Newcastle United submit proposal to 'unplayable' Arsenal free agent - decision awaited
The Gunners announced their retained list on June 3, confirming that discussions were ongoing with the young winger. However, those talks have been unsuccessful and Cozier-Duberry has now departed.
A club statement, released on Monday, read: “19-year-old forward Amario joined our academy in September 2019 and signed his first professional contract in June 2022.

An England youth international, he featured on the bench in our 1-0 away win against Brentford in the Carabao Cup, as well as in the Champions League in our 2-0 group stage home win against Sevilla. “Amario was part of the first-team set-up the previous campaign, going on our mid-season tour to Dubai, as well as making an Emirates Stadium debut when he came on as a substitute in our friendly against Juventus in December 2022.”
The North London club then wished Cozier-Dubery the best for the future as he weighs up his next move. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported in May that Newcastle had submitted a proposal but face competition from several European clubs.
Arsenal under-18s manager Jack Wilshere has previously compared Cozier-Duberry to Bukayo Saka.
“Amario is very exciting and Mikel [Arteta] likes him,2 Wilshere told The Athletic. “He reminds me of Bukayo Saka, plays in the same position as him, needs to get better with his decision-making like Bukayo did, but he’s definitely exciting.
“In some moments he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can set up a team and have a game plan, but when you’ve got individuals like that you’ve got a chance.”
