There is still plenty of time remaining in the summer window, though, and Newcastle are still expected to add to their ranks.

Howe wants a new striker, and we could still see further incomings and outgoings at St James’ Park before the end of the summer.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours concerning the Magpies.

Fresh loan

Newcastle are said to have taken out a £140million loan in a bid to help Eddie Howe build his squad ahead of the new season.

The Magpies are one of the richest clubs in the world these days, but FFP restrictions mean they cannot simply spend what is in their owners’ pockets.

According to The Sun, Newcastle have now taken a loan out with HSBC to free up cash to spend this summer.

Under FFP rules, clubs can spend money they borrow given the repayments will show in further reports.

Generally, clubs are only allowed to ‘lose’ a certain amount of money based on what they earn.

Newcastle may be cash rich thee days, but they can still only spend a certain amount over what they earn, and ramping up earnings is going to take time.

Saint-Maximin latest

Newcastle are said to be willing to offload Allan Saint-Maximin this summer.

That’s according to journalist Dean Jones, Newecastle could be willing to sell the forward amid reports Chelsea are interested.

“Saint-Maximin, Newcastle would drive him there, to be honest. I mean, they are looking for a buyer for Saint-Maximin, and if it was Chelsea, their eyes would light up and they would be very keen to get every penny they possibly could out of him,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

“I know Tottenham [Hotspur] have been linked to Saint-Maximin, too. Newcastle don’t see him as part of their future project.”
