Newcastle United are reportedly considering two big-money summer transfer deals.

The Magpies enjoyed a busy January window, landing five signings in what was the club’s first trading period under the new Saudi-backed regime.

Eddie Howe is expected to be handed another sizeable transfer budget come the summer, with Newcastle targeting a number of further additions.

And the latest reports suggest two high-profile deals totalling £85million could be on the agenda when the next window opens.

Newcastle to return with another Diego Carlos bid

Newcastle United are set to return with another bid for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos in the summer.

That’s according to Spanish publication Marca, who claim that the Tynesiders will reignite their interest in the centre back once the transfer window re-opens.

The Magpies saw a string of bids rejected for Carlos during the January transfer window as they sought defensive reinforcements, and the backline is likely to be a priority position for Howe once summer trading begins.

A fee of around £40million has been mooted for Carlos, while Newcastle are also thought to remain interested in Lille’s Sven Botman - who was another winter target.

Fabian Schar and Paul Dummett see their contracts expire in the summer, meaning their is scope for a defensive reshuffle should Howe desire.

Crystal Palace striker linked with St James’ Park

And the other half of the summer double deal could see Crystal Palace striker Eberechi Eze arrive on Tyneside.

The Sun report that Newcastle are set to pursue a summer move for the 23-year-old - having seen a January swoop for the former England U21 international fall flat.

They claim that the Magpies offered to take Eze on loan for an initial £5million in January before then making the move permanent for £35million come the summer.

Former QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze has been linked with a £45 million move to Newcastle United this summer. But that offer was snubbed by the Eagles, with a fee of around £45million thought to be required to ensure the response isn’t the same in the summer transfer window.

The Sun say that Newcastle are ‘confident’ they can get the deal done for Eze - who joined Palace from QPR for a fee of £17million in 2020.

Eze isn’t the only striker being linked with Newcastle - with Kick442 claiming that the Magpies are also interested in Cameroon international frontman Vincent Aboubakar.

The 30-year-old is thought to be interested in a move to the Premier League in the summer, and his stock is high after he claimed the golden boot at the recent African Cup of Nations after netting eight times.

Aboubakar currently plies his trade for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr and remains under contract until 2024 having only joined the club last summer.

But a move to England could be on the cards, with several clubs having been linked with a summer swoop.

In addition to Newcastle, it is claimed that West Ham United and Leicester City are also interested in Aboubakar.

The report says that it remains to be clear how much Al-Nassr would demand for the striker.
