In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding St James’ Park.

Bruno speaks

Bruno Guimaraes has been speaking after putting pen-to-paper on a new five-year contract. The contract has been in the works for months, but the Brazilian has now finalised the deal.

“I’m absolutely delighted. The fans have made me feel at home since my first day here and I feel so loved in my life,” said the midfielder after signing new terms.

“I remember in my first interview, I said I wanted to play for this club in the Champions League and now it’s happening. We are doing so well and when I look around the pitch at my team-mates I am so proud of them all.”

Anderson claim

Newcastle have been told that reported target, Crystal Palace defender Joachim Anderson, would be a ‘great signing’ as Howe looks to beef up the back line.

“I don’t see why Palace would want to sell him, especially in January,” Gabriel Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“Him and Guehi have got a great partnership, so it’s going to cost Newcastle a lot of money. If they’re willing to pay a lot of money, then it’s a great signing. I rate him highly. But maybe Crystal Palace will price him out of a move. It’ll be difficult to replace him in the middle of the season.”
