Newcastle United are finally closing in on a transfer breakthrough as an agreement nears for Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga.
Toon fans could be forgiven for not believing a new signing is imminent until the Swede is holding a black-and-white shirt at St James’ Park. As it stands, he remains at the Tricky Trees but there is confidence from Newcastle’s end that a deal can be done.
With the Magpies releasing two of their three shirts for the upcoming campaign, supporters will be wondering what number Elanga will wear if he completes a move. His digit at Forest, No. 21, is currently worn by Tino Livramento.
NewcastleWorld has profiled the numbers available - which includes the club’s legendary jersey. As a winger... surely not?
