Newcastle United £25m deal 'imminent' as Kieran Trippier replacement eyed - round-up

Newcastle United transfer round-up: Deal close to Victor Munoz as Magpies eye right-back and goalkeeper.

It’s been a busy week for Newcastle United on the transfer window front.

The Magpies secured their first summer signing, bringing in 20-year-old French goalkeeper Ewan Jaouen from Stade de Reims for £18million.

But Jaouen might not be the only new goalkeeper to arrive at St James’ Park this summer.

Here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours doing the rounds:

Newcastle United agreement for Victor Munoz ‘imminent’

Newcastle are pushing to sign Osasuna winger Victor Munoz and according to Spanish publication AS, an agreement could be “imminent”.

The report says there are “still a few details to be ironed out” with the Magpies negotiating below his £34.5million release clause, instead proposing to pay £25million plus add-ons.

Munoz only joined Osasuna from Real Madrid last summer, with the latter inserting a buy-back clause, as well as holding 50% of Munoz’s economic rights.

Should the 22-year-old join Newcastle, Madrid would be entitled to half of a sell-on fee. It’s understood the Spanish giants won’t be activating his buy-back clause, paving the way for United.

Newcastle United ‘admire’ Ligue 1 right-back

Newcastle are reportedly admirers of Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue in their search for a right-back.

As it stands, Tino Livramento is the club’s only senior right-back with Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth leaving at the end of their contracts on June 30. Trippier has agreed to join Wolverhampton Wanderers while Krafth is still deciding on his next club.

The World Cup is now underway, and according to the Daily Mail, the Magpies will be keeping an eye on Doue, who is the older brother of Paris Saint-Germain star Desire.

The 23-year-old is described as an attack-minded full-back, registering seven assists last season. Reports in France suggest Doue could be available for around £25million.

Newcastle United reignite James Trafford interest

Newcastle have made contact over James Trafford’s availability, but no formal talks have taken place yet.

The Athletic reports that Eddie Howe’s side have reignited their interest in the Manchester City goalkeeper having failed to sign him in the last two summers.

United tried to sign Trafford from Burnley in 2024 and 2025 and agreed terms with the player on both occasions only for Man City to swoop in and trigger a buy-back clause to land the goalkeeper ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 23-year-old thought he was re-joining the Citizens as their number one, however they went on to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.
