Newcastle United transfer target breaks silence on Magpies interest

Moussa Diaby has responded to speculation linking him with Newcastle United.

Newcastle United transfer target Moussa Diaby insists he isn’t thinking about his future at Bayern Leverkusen just yet.

The 22-year-old winger is among the names being considered by Magpies transfer officials this summer after three successful years in the Bundesliga.

Diaby scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists last season to help Leverkusen qualify for the Champions League.

In total, the Frenchman has played 124 times for the Bundesliga outfit, with an impressive 35 goals and 37 assists to his name, after joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Diaby has also represented France at all levels from under-18s to the senior set-up.

The player is currently on national duty with Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus and won’t discuss his future until after the Nations League games fixtures against Denmark, Croatia (twice) and, Austria.

“It’s nice to hear my name being linked to big clubs, but I’m focused on getting together to do good things here (with France),” he told reporters in France. “Then we will see what happens but, right now, I’m not thinking about it too much.”

Diaby is under contract at Leverkusen until 2025. The German club are likely to demand a sizeable fee for arguably their biggest talent.
