Newcastle United transfer target Tyler Dibling has joined Chelsea, the teenager has announced via social media.
The Magpies have been big admirers of the 16-year-old since he hit a hat-trick for Southampton under-23s side at St James’ Park in April.
Dibling, an attacking midfielder, has caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs - but it is the Blues who have won the race for his highly-rated signature.
Breaking the news via Instagram, Dibling said: “Just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff and players @southamptonfc for these last 10 years at the club.
“I’m forever grateful for the opportunities that have been handed to me and wish the club all the best.
“I’m excited to join @chelseafc and can’t wait to get started!”
Reflecting on his hat-trick at St James’ Park, where he struck three identical strikes past Mark Gillespies, Dibling said: “Yeah, it was good. A hat-trick in the first half, I’ve never done that before. The fans were good, considering there weren’t that many.
“It was a real buzz, and it was nice to play in a stadium like this. All the (goals were the) same. That’s what I do most, pick it up and drive, have a bang – and hopefully it goes in.
