Eddie Howe’s side have explored other targets, although have remained open to striking a transfer with Ekitike should his representatives lower their demands.
So far, it appears Ekitike has been unable to progress with a switch to PSG with latest reports claiming their opening offer has been rejected by Reims.
PSG are said to have offered €27million plus €5m in add-ons, compared to Newcastle’s €31m plus €5m in bonuses.
Should Ekitike eventually join PSG, the France under-20s international will face fierce competiton from Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Mauro Icardi.
