Ekitike’s injury has left Magpies fans wondering what that could mean for his potential £25million switch to St James’ Park.

Newcastle are in talks to sign the French wonderkid but there is still work to do.

Reims are happy with United’s offer, as suggested by their president Jean-Pierre Caillot last week, but are still negotiating the structure of the deal.

Agent fees are also playing a big part in discussions between the club and Ekitike’s representatives.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ekitike’s agent was expected in Newcastle on Monday but he delayed.
