Napoli are ready to make a lucrative offer to winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in a bid to fend off interest from Newcastle United and Manchester City.

The Georgian international has made a stunning start to life in Italy after joining Gli Azzurri in a reported £7m deal from Dinamo Batumi last summer. The 21-year-old has netted eight goals and provided ten assists in his first 17 appearances in all competitions and caught the eye with impressive performances in home and away Champions League ties against Liverpool. That saw the winger receive praise from Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, who described him as ‘cheeky’.

Speaking after his side’s 2-0 win against the Serie A side in November, the German boss said of Kvaratskhelia: “I know people will talk about one or two situations when Trent tried to be in front of him and the ball goes through. But he is really good, the boy, and really quick and you have to defend him together in these moments. When he has the advantage of the first movement, then he is already gone.

“You have to try to be there in the moment when the ball arrives, but if you cannot do that then you need to be protected because he has speed, he is cheeky, he goes inside, he can go outside, that makes it always really difficult.”

Kvaratskhelia’s form is said to have captured the attention of several clubs around Europe, with the likes of Newcastle and City both said to be considering a mega money move for the winger to ensure his stay in Serie A is a short one.

However, recent reports in Italy have suggested Napoli are ready to offer a new deal to the 21-year-old to fend off interest. Gazetta dello Sport have reported the Georgian will be handed the opportunity to double his salary and they believe he is committed to helping them continue their impressive start to the season and their attempt to win Serie A for the first time since 1990.
