Hakim Ziyech’s deadline day loan move to Paris Saint-Germain has collapsed, with the forward forced to stay put at Chelsea.

The Moroccan star passed his medical in France but the move fell through at the 11th hour with Ligue 1 unwilling to ratify the transfer following the late submission of documents.

PSG lodged an appeal to the Professional Football League (LFP)’s legal committee and accused Chelsea of initially sending through the wrong paperwork.

When highlighted, the French giants claim Chelsea sent the correct documents twice but without a signature. By the time everything was in order, the 11pm deadline had passed. The LFP reviewed the case this morning and decided against signing the loan move off.

That is PSG’s version of events. Chelsea, who signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica yesterday for a British record transfer fee, are yet to comment.

Newcastle United considered Ziyech as a potential option had Anthony Gordon’s £45million move from Everton fell through.

The Blues, however, were reluctant to loan the 29-year-old to a direct rival. Eddie Howe’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table, 10 points above Chelsea.
