Newcastle United will wear a “special one-off” shirt adorned with the Tyneside skyline against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

The Magpies have been given special dispensation from the Premier League to wear a sky blue jersey that features the silhouette of St. James’ Park plus several city landmarks - including the Tyne Bridge – teamed with black shorts and socks.

It comes after the Premier League ruled that the Magpies’ three new kits - black and white, navy blue and white respectively - will all clash with Brighton’s blue and white home colours.

Besides Saturday, the shirt will be used as a warm-up top by the players on matchdays through the 2022-23 season.

The warm-up version of the shirt, bound to be a hit with fans, will be available to purchase soon - the club has confirmed.

Eddie Howe’s side head to the Amex Stadium hoping to make it back-to-back wins after beating Nottingham Forest in their opener at St James’ Park.
