Newcastle United v Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia: Is there a live stream? How can I follow the friendly?

Newcastle United round-off their trip to Saudi Arabia with a behind closed doors friendly against Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Ittihad.

Newcastle United face Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Ittihad in a behind closed doors friendly on Friday.

Eddie Howe’s side round-off their week-long training camp in Saudi Arabia against Al-Ittihad before flying back to the UK on Saturday.

The Magpies aren’t back in Premier League action until Tuesday, February 8 when Everton visit St James’ Park.

What time is kick-off?

The kick-off time is unconfirmed, however it is understood the game will take place at some point on late Friday afternoon.

Due to extreme heat, the match duration will be a slightly shorter time of 70 minutes.

Can I watch the game live? Will there be highlights?

Supporters will be unable to watch the game live, or view any match highlights packages afterwards.

In accordance with FA and Premier League regulations, the club is not permitted to broadcast the game, or provide highlights.

How can I follow the game instead?

Members of Newcastle United’s media team are present in Saudi Arabia and are likely to publish a match report to the club website, accompanied with photos.

We’re told it’s unlikely the club will provide minute-by-minute commentary as they usually would on a standard matchday.

What has Eddie Howe said about the Al-Ittihad friendly?

Speaking ahead of the game on Wednesday, Howe said: “A game is a good thing for us.

“When you don’t have a game for an extended period of time, the doubt can be that you don’t expose your players to the pitch dimensions.

“At least we have that game to acclimatise ourselves back with the pitch and back with the correct match distances.

“We’re looking forward to that but the main thing is not to get any injuries from the game. Touch wood it goes well and we come back 10 per cent.”

Howe is speaking to media at 11am on Friday.
