Newcastle United v Bournemouth early team news: Late illness blow as £97m trio doubtful - 12 out

Newcastle United v Bournemouth early team news: Late illness blow as £97m trio doubtful.

Newcastle United head into this afternoon's Premier League clash against AFC Bournemouth hoping to make it back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since the beginning of December.

While the Magpies have won four away matches in a row, their home form has taken a slight dip with their last St James' Park victory coming on December 16 when goals from Lewis Miley, Miguel Almiron and Dan Burn recorded a 3-0 win over Fulham.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth are going through a sticky patch as they seek their first league win of 2024. Andoni Iraola's side are currently on a five-match winless run but as the previous meeting between the two sides suggests, they're not to be underestimated.

Indeed, the Cherries comfortably beat United 2-0 on the South Coast in November. Dom Solanke netted twice and with 15 goals to his name this campaign, Newcastle will have to keep him quiet.

Previewing the game, Magpies' head coach Eddie Howe said: "His (Andoni Iraola) methods are really strong, really visible with how they play, and I think we felt that in the away game against us.

"Since that win, I think they've had some really good results, culminating in beating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford which was a really strong performance.

"They have some direct threats. We're going to have to be aware of them and have to play a lot better than we did against them in the last game but I anticipate that we will and we can."

Ahead of the match, NewcastleWorld takes a look at the early team news from both camps with 12 players ruled out and three rated as doubtful:
