Sixteen players in total miss Newcastle United v Manchester United - here’s why.
Newcastle United and Manchester United have announced their respective starting XIs for this afternoon’s Premier League clash (kick-off 4:30pm).
Eddie Howe has named an unchanged line-up following the back-to-back wins against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.
Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, welcomes back Raphael Varane, while Marcel Sabitzer and Marcus Rashford start despite their recent injuries.
However, a number of players from both clubs are absent. Here’s a full list of Newcastle and Manchester United’s absences:

2. Tom Heaton - injured
Man United’s No.2 goalkeeper has suffered from an ankle injury and will be out for a few weeks.
3. Christian Eriksen - injured
Eriksen isn’t expected to return to action until mid-April after a crunching tackle by former Magpies striker Andy Carroll caused an ankle injury in February.
4. Donny van de Beek - injured
Van de Beek will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign because of a knee injury sustained during a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in January.
