Newcastle United WAG spotted out and about at popular Tyneside beauty spot

Sven Botman made a return to Newcastle United’s first-team this week - and his other half also revisited one of her favourite walking spots.

It was a big weekend in the Botman household. After an injury-ravaged year or so, Newcastle United defender Sven Botman finally made his long-awaited return to the Magpies’ first-team setup. The Dutchman was a late substitute in United’s comfortable 3-0 win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

It was Botman’s first appearance in black and white since the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg win over Arsenal. The Magpies, of course, went on to win the competition, but Botman himself was only a watcher, like the rest of us, with a knee issue rearing its ugly head again. The defender has been plagued with various knee issues since 2023.

And while her other half was prepping for his bid day, Newcastle United WAG Chana Kesselaar was making a return of her own - to one of her favourite city beauty spots. Kesselaar, and sometimes Botman, can regularly be spotted out and about at Jesmond Dene, walking the dog, Leo, or strolling with a walker.

Chana is not the only one who loves the spot - at NewcastleWorld we do, too - and it’s fair to say when the weather turns nice, the whole region does, with the grassed areas and walkways filled with young and old throughout the summer months.

In the above video, Chana is walking Leo in the public park, on the edges of city. She is seen videoing her pooch Leo, while he sniffs around the picnic area at the heart of the park, next to the public toilets and dene below. She captioned the short video, posted to her Instagram story, with the words: “missed our morning walks with this buddy.”

Sven Botman injury return

The 25-year-old former Lille defender was introduced to the St James’ Park pitch on Saturday, with the game already won, in the 83rd minute. Swiss Fabian Schar made way for the player making his first appearance since February.

Botman will be hoping to stake a real claim in the coming weeks, with just four games left to play - and the Magpies in chase of a Champions League return, having missed out on Europe altogether last season.

Newcastle United - Champions League race

Newcastle remain with the initiative to finish in the Champions League spots at present, with five teams set to be entered from the Premier League. The Magpies are currently third in the division with just 12 points left to play for. They go to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, knowing a win would go some way to cementing their goal, with two out of the last three encounters on home turf. Newcastle play Chelsea at St James’ in a fortnight, before travelling to Arsenal, then finishing up hosting Everton on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies already have a European return in the bag, having won the Carabao Cup. That automatically enters them to the UEFA Conference League play-off round. However, if they finish in the Champions League or Europa League spots, that place will likely go to seventh or eighth in the division.
