Newcastle United are considering a move for Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic - but face competition from Serie A giants Juventus.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Croatian international is “unhappy” with how his contract negotiations have progressed and will leave when his current deal comes to an end next month.

Inter are believed to have offered Perisic a new two-year deal worth around £4m - but that does not meet the winger’s demands and he is now considering life away from the San Siro.

The report suggests Newcastle are happy to meet the £5.5m contract demand - but the lure of Champions League football with Juventus could leave the Magpies disappointed.

Juve are set to lose two of their own stars on free transfers with Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi both set to leave the club this summer.

England striker now ‘a priority’ for Newcastle

One of Eddie Howe’s main objectives for the summer transfer window will be strengthening his options at the top end of the pitch.

With Dwight Gayle seemingly out of favour, top scorer Callum Wilson and January signing Chris Wood are the only realistic options for the United boss.

Howe is believed to be keen to add two strikers to his ranks during the close-season and Reims star Hugo Ekitike is said to be one of his main targets.

However, the Telegraph have now revealed England and Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now high on the Magpies list of targets and has suggested the Toffees would be open to discussing a deal.

No move for Villarreal star yet

The Daily Express have reported Newcastle are yet to make a move for Villarreal’s Dutch international winger Arnaut Danjuma.

The former Bournemouth star is believed to have a £38million release clause in his current deal and has attracted attention from a number of clubs after impressing in his side’s run to the semi-final of the Champions League.

Danjuma has scored 16 goals in all competitions and is adamant he will only leave for a club with the right ‘sporting project’.
