Newcastle United’s assistant manager Jason Tindall has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism on social media recently.

In January, an unknown football fan transformed their Twitter into ‘Jason Tindall desperate to be the centre of attention.’ In the past 30 days the account has gained over ten thousand followers.

As the name suggests, the account focuses on how active Tindall is on the sidelines, in team photos and how he ‘shockingly’ shook the hand of Arteta before Eddie Howe.

In fact, more and more people are becoming aware and vocal about his role. So much so that betting site Paddy Power tweeted: ‘Newcastle’s assistant manager when there’s a camera on the touch line’ followed by a GIF of Donald Trump.

But, for many Newcastle United fans, the 45-year-old is integral to Newcastle’s success, lovingly being nicknamed ‘Mad Dog’ for his sideline antics.

Howe and Tindall have worked together for over 15 years, so, naturally, the pair are now a well-oiled machine.

As The Athletic said, he’s Howe’s ‘agitator-in-chief’ reporting that over this season alone, Tindall (to name a few): kicked the ball back onto the pitch at the Emirates to prevent Arsenal taking a quick throw-in (and did it again at Crystal Palace), managed to convince the fourth official Fulham had an extra player on the pitch and has gotten into numerous arguments with opposition staff.

Speaking to The Coaches’ Voice about their time at Bournemouth, Howe said: “Jason and I are very different people.

“I look at things negatively to get a positive response, whereas Jason is always positive and a real people person.”

Significantly, a rival Premier League director, also speaking to The Athletic, said: “Tindall is that annoying git who you’d want to punch, but when he’s on your side, you just love him.

“He’s Newcastle’s resident wind-up merchant.”

But, as Tindall continues to annoy the fans of rival teams, the Mags’ love for him grows.

One fan on Twitter said: ‘The best part of this account is that they genuinely have no idea that Jason Tindall doing all the s*** that Eddie Howe doesn’t really want to do is the reason the pair make such a successful duo.’

Another commented: ‘Not sure why he’s getting hate? It’s literally how they work as a double act. JT has his role, EH has his. They don’t work without one another. Don’t like it? We’ll have them back.’
