Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin is known for more than just his talents on the pitch. The winger’s iconic hairstyle is very well-known and recognisable.

He is known for his dreadlocks, which he has previously had bleached blonde. He teams the hairstyle with headbands, most notably sporting luxury fashion brand Gucci headbands.

In a conversation with Goal, Saint-Maximin explained his reasoning behind the iconic look, saying that he took inspiration from a 1980s movie classic. He said: “I’ve always loved the karate kid”, in the film the characters wear karate headbands, similar to the ones Saint-Maximin dons on and off the pitch.

He also explained that he decided to grow his long dreadlocks to suit the headband style. He told Goal: “Wearing a headband while being bald is not the best look. That’s what also made me want to find a haircut that could go with my headbands.”

However, Saint-Maximin surprised his fans when he revealed a new look on Instagram. Sporting a buzz cut, he captioned the post: “New man” accompanied by the scissor emoji to reiterate his new haircut. The new look was met with shock from fans, one commenting: “Why you cut it bro. No Gucci headbands now.”

However, that wasn’t the end of his new hair journey. Last night, in an Instagram Live he revealed a brand-new detailed hairstyle. He also showed the look off in a post uploaded today to his 853,000 followers.
