Newcastle United remain without Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson for the Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest on Sunday (kick-off 2pm).

Trippier hasn’t featured since the 0-0 draw away to Everton on October 5 where he picked up a hamstring injury, while Wilson is yet to kick a ball this season because of a back and hamstring issue.

Both players have recently spent time in the Middle East as part of their recovery and the plan, as per Mail Sport, is to re-introduce after the international break when West Ham United visit St James’ Park on November 25.

“He’s in a good place,” said United head coach Eddie Howe when asked about Trippier last week. “He’s had a little bit of time away from the club due to his injury.

“He has gone to seek treatment elsewhere but we don’t envisage his injury to be a big one and we hope he will be back, if not before the international break then after the international break, ahead, I think he is in the best frame of mind that I have seen him for a few mints.

“I think he’s in a really good place currently.”

On Wilson, Howe added: “He’s doing ok, he’s building his load again. There was no real injury but a feeling in his body he couldn't push as hard as he wanted to push and needs to push to play at this level.

“Physically you have to be perfect at this level. We’ll make a decision but he’s definitely out of this game [Arsenal] and we’ll make a decision on how he feels for Nottingham Forest but with the two week gap, it probably makes sense to wait.”

Meanwhile, the Magpies are set to have Jacob Murphy available this weekend. The 29-year-old has missed the last two matches against Chelsea and Arsenal. He is likely to be on the bench with Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Joelinton expected to start as the front three.
