A Sport England grant had been secured to complete the works, but due to “rising costs of materials” the club needs a final push to get the work finished this season.

As part of the fundraising effort, a number of young players took part in a sponsored walk between the Killingworth clubhouse and St James’ Park.

And Saint-Maximin sent this message of support to the youngsters.

“Well done for raising the money for the club - and best of luck for the rest of the season,” said Saint-Maximin.

Killingworth Young People’s Club are an organisation with more than 30 teams, ranging from under-5s to over-40s, men, women, girls and boys teams.
