Newcastle United’s confirmed 25-man Premier League squad: Three players handed recalls

The Premier League has confirmed Newcastle United’s 25-man squad for the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.

The surprise departures of Chris Wood and Jonjo Shelvey to Nottingham Forest, plus Karl Darlow’s loan switch to Hull City, opened up three places, but they haven’t been filled by new signings Anthony Gordon and Harrison Ashby, who fall under the under-21s criteria.

Rules states players born on or after January 1, 2001, are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad.

Each Premier League club must submit a squad list after each transfer window closes. It can contain no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the “Home Grown Player” criteria. The remainder of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be homegrown.

Here’s the 25-man squad head coach Eddie Howe has named - according to the Premier League website.
