Newcastle United’s confirmed line-up v Nottingham Forest: Fabian Schar & Sean Longstaff calls made
Newcastle United’s confirmed starting XI to face Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle United’s starting XI to take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground is unchanged (kick-off 8pm).
There were concerns surrounding Fabian Schar’s fitness after reports in Switzerland claimed the defender had missed out on the national squad due to recurring foot pain.
The 31-year-old, however, is fine to start versus Forest and continue his centre-back partnership with summer signing Sven Botman.
There was a social media rumour that Sean Longstaff may miss out tonight after not being spotted in training photos this week but he stays in the three-man midfield alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock.
Alexander Isak retains his place in attack ahead of Callum Wilson, who is on the bench, with Jacob Murphy and Allan Saint-Maximin either side.
There’s no Miguel Almiron in the matchday squad with the Paraguayan set to miss the next three weeks with an ankle injury sustained in training.
Check out the starting XI and substitutes in full:

1. GK: Nick Pope
Pope was lucky not to concede a penalty against Wolves last weekend but played an important role to help United gain three points.

2. RB: Kieran Trippier
Trippier had a mixed evening against Wolves last Sunday. He assisted Isak’s opener but was at fault for the equaliser following a slip in the penalty area.

3. CB: Fabian Schar
There have been suggestions this week that Schar is nursing in a foot injury but is likely to power through versus Nottingham Forest.

4. CB: Sven Botman
The Dutchman continues to impress in a Newcastle shirt following his £35m summer move from Lille.
