Newcastle United’s confirmed starting XI v Borussia Dortmund: Eddie Howe makes two changes and makes Sandro Tonali call.

Eddie Howe has made two changes to his Newcastle United starting XI for this evening’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund (kick-off 8pm).

Alexander Isak and Miguel Almiron are recalled in place of Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy, who both scored in Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

The rest of the team remains the same with Sandro Tonali named on the bench, while Joe Willock features in the matchday squad for the first time in five months after recovering from a hamstring & Achilles injury.

Tonali is subject to investigation by the Italian Prosecutor’s Office and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in relation to illegal betting activity.

As per the Daily Mail, Tonali’s lawyers are set to agree on a 10-month ban, which will rule him out until August next year, although the midfielder will be able to train as normal.

Tonali came on as a substitute during Saturday’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace and remains eligible to play until official confirmation regarding his situation arrives.
